All Your Wallpaper Q’s Answered
We’ve compiled top-of-mind questions when it comes to preparation, installation, and beyond with our hand-screen and digitally printed wallpaper.
Our wallpapers are digitally printed on Type 2, class A fire-rated commercially viable non-PVC paper. Our wallpaper that’s hand screen printed uses vinyl inks on clay-coated paper.
For commercial projects such as restaurants and hotels, we can custom print on vinyl and mylars to achieve a supremely durable substrate. We don’t recommend this for residential use.
First, we recommend measuring your walls to make sure you have an accurate measurement in inches of height and width of the portion of the wall you’ll be covering. Please note that if you’re wallpapering a wall with a door or window, that square footage rarely factors into the calculation unless it is a significant portion of the wall. Below, you can learn more about the difference between single and double rolls.
Our digitally printed designs are printed in 10-foot increments and packaged as 3 panels of 10 feet. Our rolls are considered double rolls, which means that each double roll is 30 feet or 10 yards long (a single roll is 15 feet or 5 yards long).
For our screen-printed designs, we print 1,500 feet at a time, so we have continuous rolls available for purchase at 30’ increments. Similarly to our digitally printed rolls, a single roll is 15’.
If your project requires two double rolls, for example, we recommend ordering two of our rolls. If you need two single rolls, order just one of our rolls.
All surfaces must be smooth and sound, free of dust and peeling of inferior paint. Use of a pulp or acid-free liner is necessary. Writing on the wall to aid in the installation should be done with a light pencil. Never use a ballpoint pen or marker, as they will show through.
Old Walls: Remove existing wallcoverings and sand. Wash and clean thoroughly to disinfect and eliminate mold and bacteria. Patch and sand as necessary to achieve a smooth surface. Prime with a universal wallcovering primer (T9000, Sheildz, 1-23). Do not use oil-based primers.
New Walls: Smooth, eliminate dust, and ensure room temperature (55 degrees F or warmer) for at least 12 hours prior to installation. Properly prime walls: Latex paints must be cured with a product such as Gardz. New plaster must be properly cured (60-90 days) and feel cool to the touch.
We highly recommend our wallpaper is installed by a professional wallpaper hanger. Unsure where to find one? Here’s a list of trusted, certified hangers.
On each of our rolls of wallpaper, you’ll find detailed installation instructions as it pertains to your particular paper. For more information on the installation process, we’re breaking it down step-by-step in our hanging guide.
